The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the use of the Inogen One and Airsep LifeStyle portable oxygen concentrators (POCs) onboard commercial aircraft.

The following airlines now accept Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC): Air France, Alaskan Airlines, Allegiant Air, America West, American Airlines, ATA Airlines, Delta, Frontier, Hawaiian Airlines, Lufthansa, Midwest Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Qantas, SAS Airlines, Southwest, Sun Country, USA 300 and US Airways.

For more detailed information on using a POC for air travel go to: http://www.inogen.net/faa/

Prior to booking a flight, please check with your airline to make sure they will allow you to use a POC.

Before flying you may be required to:

1. Notify the airline prior to purchasing a ticket.

2. Present a statement of medical necessity from your physician.

This statement may include:

1) Your capacity to see/hear alarms

2) How much of the flight you will require oxygen

3) The maximum flow rate under normal operating conditions

3. Carry extra fully charged batteries in case there are delays.

4. Check with your physician to determine your flow rate for an altitude of 8000 ft.
