Champ Camp 2009: July 19-25
Glacier View Ranch, Ward, CO

Champ Camp is designed for 7- to 14-year-old kids with asthma.

At Champ Camp, campers learn the scientific side of asthma, effective management of their condition and the importance of staying active in spite of physical and emotional health obstacles. We accomplish this by incorporating asthma education into all activities, which is vital in developing the necessary skills for day-to-day management.

Campers also participate in confidence-building and team-centered activities, such as rock climbing, ropes course, canoeing, karaoke, talent contests, etc.

“Champ Camp is an extraordinary place that emphasizes education centering on asthma and instills empowerment to young minds. Champ Camp has been inspiring people and changing lives for nearly 30 years. Ironically Champ Camp and I are approximately the same age (I’m only 5 years older). I often wish I had attended camp as a young girl… as a kid, I suffered a great deal from the physical and emotional trials of having asthma. However, life did not afford this opportunity until 3 years ago when the American Lung hired me to be its camp director. Champ Camp has changed my life forever. Champ Camp is now near and dear to my heart, and there are no words to express the dynamic impression it has made on my life in regard to my own disease. More importantly, I have seen firsthand the impact it has on the little campers and their daily fight against asthma. The power of Champ Camp is undeniable and truly magical.” -April Obholz, Champ Camp Director

“A big thank you to one of our key sponsors, the Daniel Graham Foundation! Earlier this year, they generously donated a Bronco’s suite for auction. The winning bid, in its entirety, has been donated to Champ Camp 2009!”
