Champ Camp is a wonderful place. Here children gain confidence in themselves and their ability to take control of something very important, control of their own lifelong condition - a disease called asthma.
Asthma is an inflammatory condition of the lungs that makes it difficult to breathe. Asthma is chronic, meaning that inflammation is always present, even when there are no noticeable symptoms. When provoked by a trigger, the inflammation worsens and these changes produce airway obstruction, chest tightness, coughing and wheezing that can lead to asthma episodes.
Asthma is a burden if not handled properly, which involves avoiding triggers, staying active and sticking to the proper medicine regimen. At camp we teach all three and more, and in the interim enrich lives by infusing empowerment into mindsets and daily routines.
For 30 years we have impacted hundreds of campers. They come to us as children eager to grow and learn. Over the years they mature into their role as manager of their own disease.
