FAQ
Am I eligible to donate?
You must have title to the vehicle and it must be unencumbered by a lien. Your vehicle does not have to run. However, it must be towable - all 4 tires must be inflated, there shouldn't be any major parts missing, and it must be in a location that is accessible to a tow truck.

How much will I receive?
IRS regulations permit you to deduct $500 or the actual value received by the charity for the vehicle you donate. We will send you notification of what that dollar amount is within 30 days of the sale of your vehicle. All cars received by the American Lung Association of Colorado are sold for the highest value possible to help fund our mission - to prevent lung disease and promote lung health. In order to quickly turn your donation into cash, we wholesale your car to the highest bidder at a local vehicle auction. Although wholesale values are lower than retail, we've found this is the most efficient way to put your donation to use right away.

If you need additional advice on the tax law you should consult your tax advisor. We will provide the necessary paperwork to make filing fast and easy and we are happy to answer any questions. Just call 1-800-LUNG-USA (select option #3).

How long does it take?
Vehicles will be picked up as quickly as 24-72 hours after we receive your title.

Do you take anything besides cars?
You can donate any car, truck, fleet vehicles, bus, vans, RVs and motor homes, boats on trailers. We can easily accept your gift of real estate too!

What if I don't have a title and my registration isn't transferable?
You will need to request a duplicate title from your local Department of Motor Vehicles. The original owner can apply at any county office within the State of Colorado. If you are not the original owner or for more details, see the Denver County Motor Vehicle FAQ page.
