Denver Metro Air Gets Mixed Grades in Annual American Lung Association Report Card
The Denver Metro area got a mixed report card for outdoor air pollution from the American Lung Association today. While Denver’s ozone pollution improved, the short-term particulate pollution worsened. The American Lung Association State of the Air 2008 found that 125 million Americans live in areas with dangerous air pollution levels, and warned that the trends show air pollution levels stalling at levels that are still dangerous to millions. more>>
American Lung Association Declares New EPA Ozone Standards Inadequate
For the first time in more than a decade, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) revised the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for ozone. The revision, released on March 12, 2008, lowered the standard to 75 ppb. This change comes despite the fact that 16 health agencies, including the American Lung Association, advocated for levels at 60 ppb. more>> |
